Promoting free and fair elections

Why Sierra Leone Open Election Data Platform (SLOEDP)?

SLOEDP's purpose is to provide technology tools and services that enable individuals, organizations, and governments to collect, structure, transform, visualize, and share election data following the Open Election Data Initiative's nine principles of open data; Timely, granular, available for free on the internet, complete and in bulk, analyzable, non-proprietary, non-discriminatory, license-free and permanently available. We launched SLOEDP in 2018 to complement the work of election bodies such as the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) by publishing Sierra Leone's election data. For the security organizations in Sierra Leone, we complement their work to prevent electoral violence through crowd-sourced monitoring and reporting. The data we publish enable the Government, Political Parties, Researchers, Journalists, NGOs, Civil Society, and the general public to use open election data in their decision-making process.
